Components of TDEE

  • Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR): Calories burned at rest for basic bodily functions
  • Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT): Calories burned through daily activities
  • Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (EAT): Calories burned during exercise
  • Thermic Effect of Food (TEF): Calories burned digesting food

Activity Level Multipliers

  • Sedentary: 1.2 (little or no exercise)
  • Light Exercise: 1.375 (1-3 days/week)
  • Moderate Exercise: 1.55 (3-5 days/week)
  • Heavy Exercise: 1.725 (6-7 days/week)
  • Very Heavy Exercise: 1.9 (2x per day)
